Corby due for release

Convicted drug smuggler Schapelle Corby is set for release on parole next month, after being sentenced in 2005 to 20 years behind bars.

Corby is ‘nervous and happy’ about her impending freedom, according to mother Ros Rose who spoke with Seven News in an exclusive interview.

“When I just dropped the food off I kind of felt I might not have to come again,” said Rose. “Hopefully this will be the last lot.”

Schapelle’s mother has returned to Kerobokan Prison, Bali, where she believes that her daughter will walk free any day now.

"She is excited so she can do things we take for advantage..like picking out clothes and underwear...having a shower."

Despite fears for Schapelle’s mental condition, her mother says that her spirits are up.

The family is recruiting doctors and counsellors to help Corby adapt to a new life on the outside, and meanwhile she’s still taking anti-psychotic drugs.

Part of the conditions of the 36-year-old’s release is that she remains in Bali until the end of her sentence in 2017. Corby will join her brother and sister in a family compound in Kuta.

The family still protests her innocence.
