Classrooms destroyed by fire in Brisbane's south

Five classrooms have been destroyed in a fire that tore through a school in Brisbane's south.

The double-storey buildings at Wellers Hill State School were destroyed in the blaze which was believed to have started at 6am.

Children from out-of-school care have been taken to a nearby hall.

It took an hour for the blaze to be under control.

Salkeld St and part of Toohey Road have been closed; it's believed dark smoke could be seen from the Pacific Motorway.

No one was injured as a result of the blaze.

It is still unknown what caused the fire.
