Schoolgirls hit by bus at Dural

A runaway bus has hit three teenage girls outside a school at Dural in the city's north-west.

The three 15 year olds received minor injuries after the empty bus, which was parked with no driver, suddenly began moving.

It ran up over the gutter then hit the teenagers and knocked them out of the way before slamming into a tree.

One of the girls suffered abdominal, neck and leg injuries, another has leg and shoulder injuries.

They were taken to Westmead Hospital, while the third girl has been taken home by her mother with cuts and grazes.

It’s believed the teens are all students at the Pacific Hills Christian School and had just finished school when they were hit.

Police say they were glanced off the left side of the bus.

It is expected that police will order a full mechanical inspection concentrating on the brakes.

When officers arrived at the scene around three o’clock, they saw a number of bags wedged underneath the bus and feared the worst.

Luckily it was not as bad as it could have been.
