Witness helps catch alleged thief

A member of the public has helped police catch a man after he allegedly broke into an Adelaide newsagency.

The witness called police after seeing a man allegedly kick in the glass door of a newsagency on Marion Rd at South Plympton.

He then kept them up to date on the situation, providing updates to police from his mobile phone.

Police say when they arrived they found the alleged thief still inside the shop, and allegedly found a charity money tin inside his backpack.

The 32-year-old Morphett Vale man was arrested and charged with breaking into the shop and theft.
