Stynes played his entire 12-year AFL career from 1987 to 1998 with his beloved Melbourne Football Club and was chairman of the club from 2008 until he resigned in February.

The club will honour Stynes at its round-four MCG home game against the Western Bulldogs on April 22.

The club and The Reach Foundation, the youth organisation Stynes co-founded, will hold a special "tribute hour" before the clash.
