Molly returns home

Music legend Ian Molly Meldrum has returned home ten weeks after a horror fall that almost claimed his life.

Meldrum checked out of the Epworth Hospital where he has been receiving treatment for post traumatic amnesia and returned to his Richmond home where he will continue his recovery.

His manager Mark Klemens released a statement today saying Molly had returned home to see how he goes with a vigorous rehabilitation program in place both at home and at Epworth.

It read: "He needs to take things slowly and in time will be in a position to talk with the media. He continues to be humbled by all the support he has been receiving from the public."

Meldrum suffered serious head injuries after falling three metres down stairs at his home on December 15.

He spent four weeks at Melbourne's The Alfred hospital before being transferred to the Epworth Rehabilitation hospital, where he was treated in the Post-Traumatic Amnesia Unit.

In a public statement last week, the 66-year-old said he was missing his friends family and his work, and could not wait to go home.

"Although I am not ready yet, I can't wait to go home, to look after Ziggy, to see my friends, and to properly thank them, my family and the hundreds of people who sent their best wishes and love to me.

"I have missed everybody, missed my work, missed having access to a phone and my laptop, but I know I can re-introduce these things gradually as I get better."

He also thanked the prime minister for her well wishes and hoped she was having a better time than he was.

"I even received a card from Julia Gillard, so I wish her all the best," he said.

"I hope she's having a better time than I am!"
