Schoolboy dies in fight with teen

A 16-year-old high school student has died after a fight with another teenager last night, police say.

Detectives are investigating the circumstances surrounding the alleged altercation between the two teen boys at the intersection of Durham and Kent Streets in Minto, at about 5pm yesterday.

Both boys, who attend the local high school, are said to have hit each other a number of times before the 16-year-old stumbled backwards and collapsed to the ground, police say.

A passing onlooker is said to have administered first aid to the injured boy before police and Ambulance Paramedics arrived at the scene.

He was transported to Campbelltown Hospital but died a short time later.

A post mortem examination will be carried out to determine a cause of death.

No charges have been laid against the 14-year-old, who is currently being investigated by police.

Inquiries are continuing and anyone who witnessed the altercation between the two youths is urged to contact Macquarie Fields Police Station or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
