Mum 'glued toddler's hands to wall'

Police have arrested a 22-year-old mother after she allegedly glued her daughter's hands to a wall, beat her over potty training, and kicked her in the stomach.

The Dallas Morning News reported that two-year-old Joselyn Cedillo suffered multiple internal injuries and was on life support at a Dallas hospital.

Glue and paint was stuck on Joselyn's hands, and skin was torn away in places, according to a police records published in the Dallas Morning News.

Elizabeth Escalano, Joselyn's mother, called her own mother in hysterics. Soon after, the grandmother arrived at the mother's Dallas apartment and called police when she found Joselyn unconscious on the floor.

According to the police records, one of Joselyn's siblings couldn't sleep because she could hear her mother yelling and her sister crying. The girl said her sister was struggling with toilet training.

Joselyn's brother said Escalano had beat his sister with a belt and shoe, and the girl had been kicked in the stomach, police records said.

"This is beyond abuse," said Dallas police Sgt. Brenda Nichols. "This is torture."

A pediatrician said the girl had "severe life-threatening head and internal injuries" and was in a coma, according to police records.

Escalano could face up to life in prison after being charged wiith a feloy injury to a child, and has been placed on $500,000 bail.
