Zookeeper's act before he is fatally mauled by tiger

A zoo keeper has been attacked and killed by a tiger in northern Ukraine.

The animal bit the 47-year-old keeper in the neck during feeding in a zoo in the city of Mena, Ukrainian media reported on Friday.

According to the zoo director, the keeper who had been working at the zoo since 2009, had not observed safety regulations and had gone into the cage alone.

The victim of the attack died from his injury before the paramedics arrived on the scene, according to the Chernihiv Police Department,

The zoo in the town about 150 kilometres northeast of the capital Kiev keeps tigers as well as lions, pumas, leopards and bears.

An investigation has been launched at the zoo regarding "gross violation of labor safety rules", according to Newsweek.
