A South East Queensland woman pregnant with triplets is mourning her husband who was hit and killed in a tragic road accident.
Matt Conwell, 32, was hit by a car in Carindale last Wednesday leaving behind his wife Ashleigh, 29, and their as-yet unborn triplets, who are due at the end of the year, according to a GoFundMe page.
Alexandra Nesevski, a friend of the couple who started the GoFundMe, wrote “the pregnancy, delivery and care of triplets is challenging for any couple”.
“This has now been made so much more difficult for Ashleigh with the loss of her beloved soulmate, who was so looking forward to meeting his babies,” she wrote.
“Not only has Ashleigh’s world been torn apart emotionally, the financial hardship she now finds herself in is significant.”
Ms Neveski claims the couple faced financial hardship due to the coronavirus pandemic and “were already stretching every dollar” but wanted their “instant family”.
“There has been such an outpouring of grief, love and support from so many who knew and loved Matt and who have asked how they can contribute to helping Ashleigh bring her and Matt’s little trio into the world and provide a future for them,” she wrote.
“This page has been created for that purpose. Ashleigh would never normally ask for help of this kind but accepts that she and the babies really need it at this time.”
Mr Conwell’s death remains under investigation, a Queensland Police spokesman told Yahoo News Australia.
