Easter Show cancelled amid outbreak

It’s a little bit of positive news after it was revealed the Sydney Royal Easter Show would be cancelled for the first time in nearly a century due to the coronavirus pandemic.

“This is the first time the Sydney Royal Easter Show has been cancelled because of a public health emergency since the Spanish flu pandemic in 1919,” Royal Agricultural Society (RAS) president Robert Ryan said in a statement at the time of the announcement.

The RAS said on its website the decision was made “for the safety and wellbeing of our patrons and visitors”.
