'I can't believe it': Husband dies day after wife, 25, killed in NYE shooting
A man has died just a day after his wife when the newlywed couple were shot outside their home in Melbourne’s inner west on New Year’s Eve.
Police were called to a Yarraville home on New Year’s Eve about 10.30am (local time) following a shooting.
A man was hospitalised with life-threatening injuries and a woman was found dead.
The victims were identified by Nine News as Lindita Musai, 25, who died at the scene, and her 29-year-old husband, Veton Musai.
Ms Musai’s Facebook page shows the couple got married in early 2019.
On Wednesday, a relative of Mr Musai wrote on Facebook the 29-year-old had died too. Victoria Police also confirmed his death.
“I don't know how to put the words together,” Mr Musai’s relative wrote.
“Today we lost my beautiful baby cousin, Veton Musai, and his angel wife, Lindita Musai. I can't even begin to explain how I feel. The only thing keeping us strong is belief in God.”
Friends and family shared their grief over the couple’s deaths, with one man calling the pair “a lovely couple”.
“I can’t believe it,” he wrote.
A second man, 55, remains in hospital with gunshot wounds and under police guard.
Police say the couple and the man are known to each other, and while police investigations continue, they are not looking for any other offenders.
