X Factor's Altiyan Childs, 45, reappears 10 years after win

Altiyan Childs was crowned the winner of the second season of The X Factor in 2010, but the singer has been no where to be found for the last decade.

Now, the 45-year-old musician has resurfaced in an interview with The Morning Show where he revealed he's hoping to make a career comeback.

The singer had shaved his signature facial hair and looked very different, which is no surprise given how long it's been since we've caught a glimpse of him.

When Altiyan first gained fame ten years ago, he became quite the controversial figure, even living in a cave in Sydney at one point, as well as facing allegations of drug use and his relationship with a young fan.

Appearing via Zoom, he told hosts Larry Emdur and Kylie Gillies that he'd now found God and is living life "as pure as it can be".

He then told a story of how he believes God saved him, "God saved me one night on the highway.

"I was coming home from a gig, and my friend at the time was driving and I fell asleep... then I heard a voice inside which said, 'Wake up.'

"When I opened my eyes, there was a brick wall coming towards me at 100 kilometres an hour."

After waking up and realising the driver of the car was also asleep, Altiyan took the steering wheel and managed to save himself and the driver just in time.

"I'm not supposed to be here. From there, I really have waged war, for lack of a better term, on sin and I have made a home on the shoulder of Jesus Christ."

"My life is as pure as it can be," he said.

Altiyan also spoke about how he only managed to get a few months of fame from his win saying he's "very naive" and trusted the wrong people.

"If I was smarter, I would have not trusted as much and been more of a slightly colder business man... And I probably would have been around today in a larger sense," he said.

The singer added that he wasn't "built" the right way for the industry and only had success for three or four months.
