Worldwide barbecue planned to protest against complaining vegan woman

Meat lovers who disagree with a vegan woman who protested about beefy fumes coming from her neighbour’s barbecue have vowed to take part in a “World-Wide BBQ” in retaliation.

The event, according to a Facebook page, is planned to go ahead on October 19, with more than 5000 people supposedly going to be involved.

Perth woman Cilla Carden at the end of 2018 accused her Girrawheen neighbour of contaminating the air in her backyard and took her complaint to court.

Her case was first rejected in January at a tribunal and was again knocked back in the Supreme Court of Western Australia in July.

When details of the matter emerged publicly, the massage therapist became the target of widespread criticism, predominantly from offended meat eaters.

After news of a locally organised protest barbecue that was also scheduled for October 19 went viral, passionate meat-eaters across the globe vowed to do the same.

Originally organised to be a mass barbecue outside Ms Carden’s home, the plan had to be re-thought due to logistical and legal concerns.

The page was updated to declare the event had been “expanded to become a day where all supporters around the world will organise a bbq for themselves in their local area”.

Attendees were encouraged to not let “intolerance destroy a good old Aussie tradition”.

“Join us for a World-Wide BBQ in protest of her actions, and help the meat-challenged get some pork on their forks,” the event description states.

Those planning to take part in the event were also asked to share a photo or video evidence to the page to “show unity” in their venture.

The organiser was hopeful there would be “hundreds, if not thousands of bbq’s worldwide”.
