Young woman 'bashed, dragged by hair, in home invasion'

WARNING: GRAPHIC CONTENT. A young woman was beaten and left traumatised after six men forced their way inside her home, dragged her by the hair and robbed her, according to reports.

With a bruised face, Sophie Wakefield, 21, has told of how she can no longer sleep and is a nervous wreck since the violent home invasion early Friday morning.

Still trying to cope with the physical and emotional wounds of the attack, Ms Wakefield said she has been accused of fabricating the story, and has tried to defend her story by recounting the trauma.

"Everyone would say 'oh I would fight back' but I had no chance," the woman from Cheltenham, Gloucsester, in the UK, wrote on Facebook.

She added she weighs less than 45kg and is just 162cm tall.

“Why does the pattern [of] balaclaved man dragging me through my own home by my hair without my legs underneath me keep me awake at night or even give me tremors through the day?

“Why do I still get terrified and shake at the thought of what they could of done – of everything that went through my mind when they barged into my home?

"Just try and put the image in your head of a tiny woman being intimidated and beaten by 6 males, dragged round her own home, in nothing but a thin little set of pyjamas and then being forced and hit to open up her fathers safe!" she shared of the harrowing robbery.

"And being crumpled up rocking underneath his office desk watching them take all of our family memorabilia."

She shared shocking pictures of her busted face, bruised mouth and bleeding eye in the aftermath of the attack, which she said happened about 6.30am.

Her aunty Sarah Whistler told of how the thugs knocked the front door with a clipboard and an empty box, pretending to be delivery men. They burst into the home when Ms Wakefield opened door, she said.

"No one deserves this," her aunty wrote on Facebook.

The thieves reportedly punched Ms Wakefield in the face and kicked her in the ribs, asking “Where is it?” dragging her from room to room, demanding she lead them to her father's safe, a family friend Emma Austin told Gloucestershire Live.

The men forced her to open it, then began “cheering like in a football match”, Mrs Austin told.

The gang then fled with family heirlooms and cash of a "very large value", Gloucestershire Live reported.

Mrs Austin said the men held the family dog by his ear and threatened to kill him if Ms Wakefield didn't comply.

Ms Wakefield's parents, who were away on holidays at the time of the robbery, are offering a $8500 reward for information.
