Gunman opens fire at Swedish marketplace

Several people have been injured after a gunman opened fire in a Swedish marketplace.

Police launched a major operation following the dramatic shooting in Trelleborg, Sweden, at about 10.30pm (local time) on Thursday.

Multiple people were found injured in different locations, while at least four people have been rushed to hospital.

Police say the violence is not being treated as a terrorist attack and officers are continuing to hunt for the gunman.

Trelleborg, known for its past gang violence, is located 33 kilometres south of Malmo and 64kms southeast of Copenhagen, Denmark.
