Neighbour caught creeping in family's attic above baby's crib while they sleep

A father who installed security recording devices in his attic received a shock when he discovered his neighbour had been creeping above his infant's crib late at night.

Jerome Kennedy installed the cameras after he began to hear strange noises coming from above the ceiling after his family had gone to bed.

When the man, from Pittsburgh in the US, played back the video, he was disturbed to see Robert Havrilla crawling through the narrow space above where his family slept.

The footage allegedly showed the neighbour removing a false wall the father had built above his baby’s bedroom, and carrying the plank of wood and a drill through the vent.

Mr Kennedy told KDKA he felt violated to learn Havrilla removed the insulation above the bedroom the father of one shared with his wife.

“It’s just very disheartening to feel violated in this way that somebody can come in and disturb the sanctity of my home. It’s extremely creepy.," he said.

“He’s removed all the insulation from my ceiling above the bedroom and that gives him direct access where he could get into the vents,” he said.

“The only thing I can assume is he’s watching my baby, my wife or myself.”

The homeowner said his suspicions began after he noticed torchlights appear at night and drill holes appearing in the brickwork.

Mr Kennedy alerted police of the unusual activity on July 15, then followed up two days later when he had the video allegedly catching his neighbour in the act.

Havrilla appeared in court on Wednesday and was charged with a number of offenses including burglary.
