Murdered woman's body dug up in front of shocked tourists on packed Thailand beach

WARNING, DISTRESSING CONTENT: Holidaymakers on a popular Thai island were left shocked after a woman’s murdered body was dug up from a shallow grave.

After one Koh Samui beachgoer noticed a bad smell coming from the area, she investigated further and discovered clothes poking from the sand.

Police officers were called to the scene where they promptly uncovered a woman’s body, believed to be that of a local homeless woman from Burma named Lucy.

It was soon revealed the woman in her 40s died of stab wounds to her abdomen.

Shocked members of the public watched on as the police lifted her body from the shallow grave and moved her into a nearby vehicle.

The death comes just two months after Belgian backpacker Elise Dallemange was found “half eaten by lizards” on the adjacent holiday island hotspot, Koh Tao.

Police believe the 30-year-old took her own life but her mother Michele van Egten has since said she does not believe the official account of her daughter's death.

Elise is the seventh tourist found dead on the island in the past three years, prompting Ms van Egten to allege foul play.

In a Facebook post on a Thai community Facebook page, Ms van Egten said “please if you know something tell us”.

“She lived there for months with Guru Raaman Andreas from Germany and two female friends.”

It's alleged the local mafia rule the island where Dallemange ultimately died, with backpackers flocking to paradise to party.

Ms van Egten's claims have lead police to investigate further.
