Woman disgusted to find dead frog in her salad

A diner at a US restaurant got more than she bargained for when she found a dead frog at the bottom of her Caesar salad.

Shawna Cepeda had just delved into her meal at a BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse in Wes Covina, California when she noticed something didn't taste quite right.

"I was about 4 bites into it and I noticed it tasted a little different," she wrote on in a rather condemind Yelp review..

"I thought maybe the ranch dressing was a little bitter, and after mixing the salad around some more I found a dead baby frog."

Ms Cepeda said she showed her husband who confirmed her worst fears that it wasn't a piece of lettuce.

“I told him this frog could contain salmonella and who knows how long it’s been sitting in a produce bag,” Cepeda wrote in her post.

While a delicacy in some countries, the addition of frog wasn't quite to Ms Cepeda's liking who notified staff about her issue.

Despite the public relations nightmare that loomed for the popular US restaurant chain, staff at the restaurant hardly went into damage control, offering Ms Ceped a free meal and a $50 gift card.

Krysteen Romero, the general manager at the restaurant, posted a comment on Cepeda's Yelp page more than a week later apologising and offering to speak to her directly.

BJ's Restaurant said they have launched an internal investigation including discussions with their "suppliers and distributors to ensure that nothing like this happens in the future."
