WATCH: Woman foils carjacking by jumping on car

A Milwaukee woman has foiled a brazen car-jacking attempt by jumping onto the bonnet and refusing to let go.

CCTV shows Melissa Smith walking around the side of her car as she prepares to fill it up with petrol.

Moments later a black sedan slowly emerges on the scene, dropping off a passenger who can be seen attempting to discreetly jump into her Subaru SUV.

But she wasn’t having a bar of it.

“I had this 'this is not happening to me reaction' and ran around, jumped around on my car, grabbed my windshield wipers, and didn't let go,” Ms Smith told Fox6 News.

“The kid in my car laughed at me while I was on my car and tried moving and throwing me off and I screamed bloody murder, and I didn't get off.”

As he attempted to flee the petrol station, the thief quickly realised his victim wasn’t about to let go any time soon and jumped out of the car and back into the black sedan.

The danger was far from over though, as the moving car rolled onto a busy road prompting Ms Smith to jump in and pull the handbrake.

Sharing the video on Facebook, Ms Smith revealed that the thief did manage to steal her phone, wallet and purse.
