Students defend 'brilliant teacher' who was stood down over 'provocative' selfie

A high school teacher has been defended by her students after she was stood down for posting a “provocative” selfie on social media.

Lydia Ferguson shared the image on Facebook, showing her sitting on the edge of a bed in a white dress.

Some of her colleagues at Milton Keynes school, north of London, weren’t impressed by the image and reported it.

“I’ve always stuck to a rule on FB and Insta that if my Grandad, bless his heart, would look at any of my pictures in disgust, then I would never post them.

“I don’t think it’s seductive or inappropriate either.”

The mother-of-three was placed on suspension, prompting her students to launch a petition to “Get Miss Ferguson Back”.

“She is a brilliant teacher. She is there to help students who have problems like bullying and stuff,” One student said.

“She does so much to help us and we’re so upset she’s been suspended.”

The petition had more than 250 signatures within just 24 hours, even drawing signatures from parents.
