Close call: Dashcam shows motorist overtaking traffic while narrowly missing oncoming truck
A truck filmed barrelling down the wrong side of the road forced oncoming traffic to merge out of its way so it could overtake a line of cars stuck behind a tractor.
Dashcam footage captures the close call when a UK truck driver appears to head towards oncoming traffic to overtake the cars, leaving little room for approaching vehicles including another prime mover.
Tony James, who recorded the vision, commented on the dangerous manoeuvre saying the truck was "overtaking a complete line of traffic behind a tractor and forcing the two lanes of traffic into a single file to avoid an accident".
In seconds, while the first truck drove on the wrong side of the A30 in Cornwall, other vehicles including another truck, quickly approach.
The oncoming vehicles swerved into another lane of traffic to avoid smashing into the first truck, which got in the way of cars travelling east as it struggled to find a safe space to merge back into the left lane.
The 'Roseworthy Dip', between small towns Hayle and Camborne is notorious for confusing motorists driving west, who are forced to merge when the road changes from a dual carriageway to a single lane.
"Watch how close the white van was as it was unable to get in.
"Still hard to believe what we witnessed. There are a lot of drivers that need educating."
In response to a comment on the video thread, Mr James said it was "so lucky it didn't end in tragedy".
