The ex-husband of an Australian woman named as a suspect in the murder of a Bali police officer is on his way to visit the imprisoned mother of his children.

Anthony ‘Twig” Connor will be just the third visitor for his ex-wife Sara Connor, 45, from Byron Bay, who has been in an Indonesian jail for more than a week after being linked to the bashing death of Wayan Sudarsa.

Mr Connor also hails from Byron Bay, works as a bartender and is the father of Ms Connor’s two children, News Corp reports.

He was due to arrive in Bali on Sunday night.

Ms Connor’s boyfriend, David Taylor, 34, is also in jail and an official suspect in the murder investigation into Mr Sudarsa’s violent death on Kuta beach on August 17.

Ms Connor and Mr Taylor were taken into custody on August 19 and have not seen each other since.

Details of their versions of events and the accusations against them have trickled into the public domain ever since.

Mr Connor’s visit comes amid news that investigators will bring both suspects to a reconstruction of the crime scene shortly. It will be the first contact between Ms Connor and Mr Taylor since their arrests.

It has also been revealed six witnesses have come forward, some of which claim to have seen Ms Connor and Mr Taylor burning the clothes they were wearing at the time of Mr Sudarsa’s death.

Police have alleged Mr Sudarsa was beaten to death with a pair of binoculars, a beer bottle and a mobile phone during a night-time encounter with Ms Connor and Mr Taylor on the beach.

Laywers for Ms Connor have claimed she had no motive to kill the police officer, and had been trying to protect him from Mr Taylor.

"[Sara Connor] said to me after she made a little bit of a reconstruction there [at the crime scene], only between us, 'I want[ed] to protect the victim'," Connor's lawyer Erwin Siregar told the ABC.

"[Sara Connor] want[ed] to separate between David Taylor and the victim and in this case [she] just want[ed] to protect the victim and so [she is] not guilty."

Police said Mr Taylor, a British DJ, had admitted he had confronted the policeman over Ms Connor's missing bag and confessed to attacking Mr Sudarsa, but denied killing him.

Ms Connor earlier told police Mr Sudarsa had bitten her on her thigh and hand when she had tried to stop the scuffle.

If convicted, Ms Connor and Mr Taylor face sentences of up to 15 years.
