One officer dead, another injured in San Diego shooting
One police officer is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting in San Diego.
San Diego police confirmed a male officer was shot and killed while on patrol in the Southcrest area of the city.
"It is with a very sad heart that we announce the death of one of our Officers tonight. Pray for his family," San Diego police said.
The second officer was rushed into surgery and is expected to survive his gunshot wound.
One person was taken into custody after the shooting, with the investigation into the matter ongoing.
It's believed the officers were shot after conducting a traffic stop.
The shooting comes after three police officers were killed in a retaliation shooting in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, last week.
Dallas police also came under attack earlier this month at a Black Lives Matter rally.
Five police officers were killed in the line of duty supervising that march.
