Toddler dies in hot car while parents at church

A toddler has died after his parents left him locked inside a four-wheel-drive while they went to church.

The three-year-old was trapped inside the vehicle during a blistering heatwave in East Dallas, USA last Sunday.

A fellow churchgoer noticed the boy inside the car parked at the Rehoboth Praise Assembly and alerted the parents.

By the time the parents got to the car, it was too late.

"He was grabbing his kid, and the kid would not move, and saying 'I need somebody help, call the police,” witness Reng Om told CBS Dallas.

According to others at the church, the parents thought the toddler was with his four siblings at a bible study class in the same complex.

It wasn't until the children emerged that they realised the three-year-old was missing.

“They are a perfect family. I’m very upset for him,” Mr Om said.

The boy is the second child to die in the US in the space of a week after a babysitter left a four-year-old girl trapped in a hot car in Pennsylvania.

The babysitter was supposed to drop the child at daycare, but forgot and drove to work, leaving the child locked inside.

When she returned to the car at 3.30pm, the child was already unresponsive and was later pronounced dead in hospital.
