The ban comes just days after a Frenchman was arrested for trespassing on an Indonesian military base, which he blamed on the Pokemon Go app.

Romain Pierre, 27, said he strayed off course while “hunting” Pokemons, when he entered the high security West Java compound.

“We are worried that police officers may become addicted and we don't want that because a police officer's duty is to serve the public," national police spokesman Boy Rafli Amar said.

Pokemon Go is not officially available in Indonesia, but due to its popularity across the world, many have downloaded the app illegally.

The Pokemon Go ban will apply to all work hours in a bid to keep staff focused on the job at hand.
