Mob attacks music fans for listening to Radiohead during Islamic holy month of Ramadan

A group of Radiohead fans have been viciously attacked by a gang of thugs in Turkey, apparently angry at the men for listening to music during the holy month of Ramadan.

Video taken inside the Velvet Indieground bar in Instanbul shows a group of people sitting quietly with music playing before several men storm the bar and order them outside.

Tense scenes ensue as several men try to barricade themselves inside the store while crashes, shouts and screams can be heard outside.

Reddit user identikitisthesh*t said they were one of the store’s owners.

The record store was taking part in a world wide promotional event based around Radiohead’s latest album, A Moon Shaped Pool when the violence began.

“They were determined to kill us. we were beaten by more than 20 men with pipes in their hands, beer bottles were broken on our heads, I (sic) don't even know how we made it out. i will share the details later guys. just hoping that noone will die,” they wrote.

Radiohead itself has since responded to the incident with a livestreamed message on Periscope, offering their support to the victims.

“Our hearts go out to those attacked tonight at Velvet IndieGround in Istanbul,” the band said.

“We hope that someday we will be able to look back on such acts of violent intolerance as things of the ancient past.

“For now, we can only offer our fans in Istanbul our love and support.”

It is believed no one was seriously injured in the attack, although photos posted to social media show at least one suspected victim with blood streaming from his face.
