'Don't --- with me, I can cut you': bus driver allegedly threatens passengers with knife

A Texas bus ride turned terrifying for commuters when their driver stopped the vehicle and raged out at passengers who claim she was holding a pocket knife.

Footage recorded by scared passenger Karen Latimer shows the female driver yelling at a passenger, screaming: "Everybody was doing fine until you got on here!"

"I'm not playing with you," she screams at a male passenger.

"I'm not about to be played with."

The witness said the altercation onboard a bus at Houston, Texas on Monday began when the driver called a male passenger "negro" to which he took offence.

"She then said: 'I said negro and if you don't like it get off my bus'," Ms Latimer wrote on social media.

As the argument got out of hand, the driver reportedly stopped the bus before pulling out a switch-blade knife and swinging it around, threatening the man.

"She jumped out of her seat with a knife already ready, and she had the handle cupped in her hand," Ms Latimer told Houston news network NewsFix.

She said the driver told the man: "Don't 'f---' with me, I can cut you!"

The woman said the driver claimed the male passenger she was arguing with was armed with a knife, but the video shows him instead holding a bottle of water in one hand and an umbrella in the other.

Ms Latimer said eventually the passenger got off the bus, then the driver's supervisor showed up and lead the other commuters onto new bus.

She said she was so worked up over the incident that she missed her stop.

But when she hopped on the bus in going in the opposite direction, the passenger was shocked to see the same driver was back behind the wheel.

"She put us all in danger and her supervisor let her stay driving on that route?" she said in disbelief.

Metro has since issued a statement saying the driver has been suspended from service "as we conduct our investigation".

"Safety is Metro's top priority for customers and staff," the statement said.
