Bystander films himself telling off woman who left child in hot car to go shopping

A Californian passer-by publicly shames a mother for leaving her crying baby in the car on a hot day while she went shopping.

Footage of the man’s epic rant has gone viral, watched almost 1.5 million times since being shared on his public Facebook page less than two weeks ago.

“Caught this stupid chick leaving baby in car to get video game.had her 5 or 6 yr old other boy with her, but left baby in car over 20 min,” he wrote in a caption accompanying the video on his Facebook page.

Video of the incident, taken by Manny Williams, prompted authorities to look into the child’s welfare.

The clip shows the 23-year-old woman inside a gaming store while her baby boy sits in a car seat inside her parked vehicle.

“She’s in Gamestop while her baby is in the car crying,” Williams shouts.

“She don’t care. She’d rather get a video game than take care of her baby that’s in the car by itself crying on a hot day.

“Wow. That’s crazy! Who does that? Like, really?” he continues in disbelief.

When the woman realises she is being filmed, she walks back out to the car.

But instead of being guilted into removing the crying infant from the car or leaving, she and rolls up all the windows then heads back into the store.

Richmond Police used the video to track down the mother who was later interviewed about the incident at her home.

Police reported the three-month-old baby boy and his six-year-old brother, appeared to be healthy, Lieutenant Felix Tan told KTVU news in Oakland, California.

The unidentified woman who says she was only gone for “a few minutes” told police the car was running with the air-conditioning on, keeping the interior cool.

“No matter what, it's never smart to leave your engine running with your kids in the car,” Lt Tan said.
