'Jihadi John' flees ISIS, fears death: Reports

The ISIS execution with a British accent, who became famous around the world as ‘Jihadi John’ is reportedly on the run from his comrades.

The man, revealed earlier this year as Kuwait-born, UK-raised computer science graduate Mohammed Emwazi, 26, now fears he may meet the same fate as those he beheaded in a series of grotesque propaganda films for the extremist terrorist group.

The UK’s Daily Express reports Emwazi fled his terrorist companions several weeks ago, and has been on the run in Syria in an attempt to reach North Africa.

The paper reported he had become terrified after his real identity was revealed, fearing allied forces would hunt him down in the Middle East, or that his former friends would believe he was no longer of use to them.

A source indicated it was “possible he will end up suffering the same fate as his victims".

“[ISIS will drop him] like a stone or worse if they feel he is no longer of any use to them.”

Emwazi is wanted by US and British forces for the murder of US journalists and aid workers James Foley, Stephen Sotloff and Peter Kassig, as well as Britons David Haines and Alan Hennig.

He is also believed responsible for the killing of Japan’s Kenji Goto.

Emwazi became one of the most infamous of ISIS’ murderers due to his obvious London accent in videos showing him cutting of the heads of innocent westerners.

According to the Express, Emwazi now fears other ISIS members jealous of his notoriety may be plotting against him, while the loss of his anonymity has made him a target for friends and foes alike.

The Washington Post revealed earlier this year that Emwazi was the real life identify of the murderer known to the world as Jihadi John.

The paper attributed the information to US intelligence sources and spoke to former friends who said they had no doubt Emwazi was the notorious masked executioner.

Emwazi has not been seen on video since January this year, sparking speculation he may already be dead.

There are now reports he may have sought refuge with lesser-known terrorist groups in the area.
