Toddler survives being pinned under car

A four-year-old boy has miraculously survived being run over by an out-of-control car in New York.

Heart-stopping surveillance video shows Oscar Chen playing on a sidewalk on Monday when a car suddenly mounts the curb.

It knocks a small tree on top of the toddler before running him over.

The vision shows shocked bystanders rushing to free Oscar from underneath the vehicle.

A few even try to lift the car.

Emergency services arrived a short time later and the toddler was taken to hospital with just a few scratches.

Oscar’s mother told WABC-TV his grandmother was standing only a few metres away when the accident happened.

"My mom try to pick up my son... but cannot because he's under the car," Cindy Chen said.

"She not talking. She not eating last night, and she say, 'I don't know, where's my brain.”

Oscar was released from hospital on Tuesday.

“He’s feeling much better today, much better,” Cindy said.

The driver had not been charged, according to WABC-TV.
