Australian man caught with cannabis crop in China drug bust

An Australian man has been deported from China after he was allegedly busted with cannabis plants in his home during a police raid.

The 34-year-old accused, who has been named by Xinhua as David Robert Ancel Green, is believed to have lived in China for 14 years and worked as an English teacher.

Police raided his Changsu home in China's east following a tip off from neighbours.

Extraordinary video shows police storm into his apartment where they discover the cannabis crop growing in his attic.

In the clip, Mr Green explains he has grown the marijuana plants for the past three months and admits to purchasing an instruction manual.

Police said they also discovered growing equipment and an audio player with bird sounds to play to the plants.

He was held in custody for 13 days before being deported to Australia on May 18.
