Father kills daughter in accidental shooting
A father in the US has killed his six-year-old daughter in an alleged tragic shooting accident in their Panama City home.
Evan Hernandez was practising his gun form in front of a mirror when the gun accidentally went off, according to court papers obtained by The News Herald.
The bullet then went through the mirror and a wall, before it hit his daughter Izabella Votta, who later died from her injuries at Bay Medical Sacred Heart.
The police report for the incident said “it appears the shooting was accidental.”
The Panama City Police Department turned over the results of its investigation to the 14th Judicial Circuit State Attorney’s Office on Tuesday.
The office will decide if any criminal charges should be made against Mr Hernandez.
A Go Fund Me page has been set up to help raise money for the child’s funeral expenses.
The page, which was created by Michelle Dumont, says: ‘A family can never be prepared for something like this. As this young family was not.’
‘Most who know the family knew that Izabella was a cancer survivor . She deserves a celebration of life and to be able to do this we need help
So far the page has raised $1,815 for the little girl who was taken from her family far too soon.
