Disgruntled employee writes sarcastic resignation note to bosses

A disgruntled employee has decided to get back at their boss by writing an incredibly sarcastic resignation letter and posting it online.

While most people try not to burn bridges when they leave a workplace, Reddit user gahdzuks decided to take a different approach when departing the unnamed firm where they worked.

In the handwritten note the Reddit user vents their frustration at company polices and complains about the complete lack of emotion the company showed during their recent misfortunes.

The letter written on Friday reads: 'I am sorry that my step-mother died so suddenly from cancer. I am sorry that I am not a robot and was emotionally affected by her passing and had to miss work.'

The Reddit user goes on to apologise for their sickness and for making a doctor’s appointment during school hours.

'I am sorry that I got sick and had to miss work so that I didn't get anyone else sick.

'I am sorry I work 47.5 hours per week (without getting paid the overtime that I am legally owed) for the last 7 months, and thus have little choice but to schedule necessary doctor's appointments during school hours.'

'Clearly I am a terrible employee, and for that I apologize. I know you hate people telling you how to do your job, but I suggest you start looking for my replacement. Immediately.'

While the writer has not specified where they live and work, they are believed to be an American, as the date is written in the American style of 4/24/15 and they have used the U.S. spelling of ‘apologize.’

While some Reddit users congratulated the author, many thought it would have been better to go with a more traditional and professional approach.

“I always find passive aggressive notes to be the best way to communicate my problems to my boss,” user ypicallydownvoted added.

Others did not buy the story and sided with the employer.

“This just reeks of a drama queen type of person that never takes personal responsibility for their actions and can't believe when there are actually consequences. Would love to hear the other side of the story,” wrote Pappy091.

While the letter was posted with the caption two weeks notice, it seems the Reddit user's departure will be more sudden than that. If not they are in for an awkward two weeks at work.
