Internet rejoices after teenager helps elderly customer walk home

A young supermarket employee has become an internet sensation after he helped an elderly customer walk home.

Samantha-Jayne Brady took a photo of 18-year-old Christian Trouesdale as he held the man's hand and carried his shopping from an Aldi supermarket in the United Kingdom.

The teenager said the unnamed man had asked for his help a week earlier because he was scared to walk home in the windy weather.

“I asked my manager if it was OK to walk him home and he said it was the right thing to do, so I did,” he told The Bolton News.

When the man returned to the store on Friday, he asked Christian if he could help him again.

Brady, who works nearby, saw the pair walking along the street and was so touched she took a photo of them.

“Need to share this, whilst working earlier we watched this lovely lad walking this little old man home,” Brady wrote on Facebook.

“It was a lovely thing to witness and they seemed to be having a good chit-chat along their way.

“High 5 to Aldi for letting him do this and high 5 to Christian from Aldi in Horwich for his selfless, thoughtful & caring gesture!” she added.

Brady’s post went viral online and both Christian and Aldi received praise from around the world.

Christian told The Bolton News he was surprised by the response on social media.

"It is very strange because this is just something I would normally do," he said.

“My parents have raised me to treat other people like you want to be treated yourself."
