A father in the US thought he was having a stroke and called emergency services, after he unknowingly ate several pot brownies.

The 58-year-old Michigan man did not know that the batch of sweet treats baked by his 17-year-old daughter contained marijuana, reports the Detroit Free Press.

After eating several brownies that were left out at his Independence Township home last Wednesday, the man stared suffering hallucinations and dialed 911, according to the New York Daily News.

He told medics that he had “no idea” what was happening to his body and mind.

Firefighters and deputies responded to the call and the man was taken to St Joseph’s Hospital in Pontiac, according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

"The father thought he was having a stroke," Oakland County Undersheriff Mike McCabe told Click On Detroit.

After police arrived, the man’s 17-year-old daughter admitted to having baked the pot brownies.

Mr McCabe said the girl had left the brownies in the kitchen, but claimed she did not expect anyone to eat them.

Her father was later released from hospital and has made a full recovery. The brownies tested positive for pot and the girl now faces drugs charges.

Mr McCabe said that the girl would not get off lightly, reports Click On Detroit.

"This will be a lesson for her and everybody else,” he said.
