'Jihadi John called a dog by father'

The father of 'Jihadi John' reportedly called his son a "dog, an animal and a terrorist" during a phone call with a colleague.

Jaseem Emwazi’s son Mohammed has been identified in reports as the masked militant seen in Islamic State killing videos.

Abu Meshaal, 40, who works with Jaseem in a supermarket depot in rural Kuwait, said the family last spoke to the 26-year-old in 2013 when he called from Turkey and asked for their blessing to go to Syria, The Telegraph reports.

"Mohammed called his father and said 'I'm going to Syria to fight jihad, please release me and forgive me for everything'," Meshaal told The Telegraph.

"Jassem said, "f*** you. I hope you die before you arrive in Syria."

Mr Meshaal said the family was devastated when news emerged that Mohammed was the hooded man in the notorious Islamic State videos.

He said Jaseem had broken down in tears during a recent phone call between the pair and was too ashamed to go back to work.

The BBC reports Jaseem was questioned by Kuwaiti officials for several hours on Sunday, as investigators try and put together a profile of his son.

His lawyer said he was in a “state of shock” after being interrogated.
