Woman gives online lover $1.4 million

A woman has been grilled on national television in the United States after she gave $1.4 million to a man she had never met.

In an interview on talk show Dr Phil, Sarah said she had fallen head over heels for Chris Olsen, who she met on the internet 18 months ago.

"I said 'Wow this guy's really handsome, I can't believe he's talking to me'" she told Dr Phil.

Chris told Sarah he was born in Milan but had moved to the US 18 years ago and was now based in Africa for work.

After only seven weeks of conversing, Chris declared his love for Sarah.

But it was at this point the first signs of Chris' bizarre behaviour started to show.

“When I first started talking to him he sounded Italian,” Sarah revealed to Dr Phil.

“But now his accent's kind of changed I don't know if he's adapted to where he's at in Benin."

Chris has reportedly tried to come back to the US to be with Sarah but has been arrested several times on false charges.

Sarah said the first time he was taken into custody, Chris asked her for financial help to pay for his bail.

She was forced to sell her apartment so she could give him $550, 000.

Sarah has since given Chris a total of $1.4 million to cover the costs of hotel bills, calling cards, lawyers, visas and bail charges.

But despite the suspicious circumstances, she told Dr Phil their relationship was genuine and that she still believed in 'true love.'
