A Valentine’s Day screening of raunchy movie Fifty Shades of Grey has turned nasty in Scotland with three women arrested after allegedly attacking a fellow audience member.

According to The Scotsman, the man, who had gone to see the movie with his girlfriend, was attacked after he asked the group of women to be quiet at the Grosvenor Cinema in Glasgow.

While there have been reports the victim was glassed in the incident, police have denied that was the case and said no one involved required hospital attention.

Scottish police said three women, aged 31, 38 and 51 had been arrested for alleged disorder offences and assault.

One moviegoer who arrived at the cinema shortly after the incident said cinema staff were wiping blood off the seats before the next session.

“Only in Glasgow are police called to the cinema,” Michael Bolton told The Scotsman.

“This type of behaviour happens at pubs and nightclubs - but you don’t expect that at a cinema.”

G1 Group, which owns the cinema, said in a statement: “"This was an isolated incident that was dealt with rapidly by cinema staff and stewards, as a result of which, Police Scotland attended and made an arrest."

Fifty Shades of Grey, the widely anticipated adaptation of the best-selling novel starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, has soared to the top of the box office charts since its release.
