Father 'buried 10-year-old daughter alive'
A man was disturbed by his wife as he attempted to bury their 10-year-old daughter alive simply 'because she was a girl', according to reports.
The horrifying incident happened in Tripura, in north-east India.
Abdul Hussein allegedly taped his daughter's mouth and tied her hands before digging a pit in the back garden of the family home.
A shocking image of the little girl buried chest-deep was shown on Indian news station, NDTV.
When Abdul's wife returned home, he tried to conceal the little girl by placing a bamboo basket over her head, it is alleged.
His wife became suspicious and the little girl was eventually found by neighbours.
Abdul was arrested and charged with attempted murder.
NDTV reported the man disliked his daughter because 'she was a girl'.
