'Is the moon a star or a planet?': QVC hosts tackle science in hilarious space debate

Is the Moon a star or a planet? This is not a trick question and the answer really is quite simple - the Moon, perhaps unsurprisingly, is neither.

However, the extraordinary astronomy debate sparked a heated exchange between two presenters on an American shopping channel.

It began when one of the hosts likened a garish piece of clothing to the view of earth 'a bazillion miles away on the planet Moon'.

In the clip, the confused presenter then speculates: 'Is the Moon a star?', to which her misinformed co-host adamantly replies: 'No darling, the Moon is a planet'.

Comets fly and tempers flare in the studio as the hilarious, and arguably dumb, dispute unfolds.

"Is the Moon really a planet?" one presenter says. "Don't look at me like that. The Sun is a star...is the Sun not a star?"

The sidetracked hosts appear to have lost all interest in their fashion range, with the issue of science taking centre stage.

As the puzzled hosts try to work out what the moon is, viewers are also urged to Google the correct answer to shed some light on the perplexing issue.

Thank goodness for the guy off camera, Chunky, who sets the record straight, and confirms the Moon is neither a planet nor a star, but the Earth's only natural satellite, and oddly enough, well, a Moon.

Astronomy is clearly not these presenters' strong point, we suggest they stick to their impressive sales deliveries.
