Man who went missing in Hobart, Shaun Cousins, charged with indecent assault

A Hobart father of two who allegedly disappeared after learning police wanted to talk to him about child sex allegations has been charged with indecent and aggravated sexual assault.

Shaun David Cousins, 43, was found wandering near the Tolman's Hill fire station yesterday, 10 days after disappearing from his Mount Nelson Home.

Shortly before he was found, police confirmed Cousins had become aware he was wanted for questioning over a separate investigation.

Cousins appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court this morning, charged with four counts of indecent assault, seven counts of assault with indecent intent and three counts of aggravated sexual assault.

Court documents state the offences were committed on a nine-year-old girl and two 10-year-old girls between April last year and October this year.

Cousins did not enter any pleas.

The matter has been adjourned until 20 January.

After he was bailed, Cousins hugged his mother and mother-in-law.
