Queensland firefighters face sack over 'sex poll'

At least three Queensland firefighters could lose their jobs after allegedly rating which female colleagues would be "best in bed".

Some of the women have lodged sexual harassment complaints about the social media poll and have been transferred to other stations.

The Queensland Fire and Emergency Service said it had hired an independent firm to investigate the matter and declined to comment further.

"It would be inappropriate... to comment, while the investigation is ongoing," a spokeswoman for the service said.

Queensland's Police, Fire and Emergency Services Minister Jack Dempsey said he had confidence the matter would be thoroughly investigated.

"Queenslanders set a high standard... their expectations are very high in relation to the respect of our firefighters and all emergency service workers," he said.

"I have confidence the matter will be thoroughly investigated to a high standard that meets not just the fire service expectations but the expectations of all the people of Queensland.

"It [the investigation] will take whatever time the fire commissioner determines to ensure all the facts are put out there."
