Man catches one-year-old baby after fall

A Chinese man is being praised as a hero after catching a one-year-old baby boy who fell from a second storey window.

Incredible video has emerged of the moment the baby climbed out of a window during a heavy thunderstorm before falling off the ledge late on Sunday.

A shop owner who lives in the opposite building in Xiaolan Town, in the Guangdong Province, rushed across the road with arms outstretched in hope of catching the baby.

“I didn’t think too much at the time. I was just afraid of failing to catch him. Some people put down cardboard to avoid serious injuries to the baby if I fail to catch him,” said the hero, known as Mr Li.

Another local resident, Mr Hu, also rushed to the baby's aid and helped put several pieces of cardboard and a small sofa underneath the window to break the fall of the child.

“It was nothing but human instinct to do so,” said Mr Hu.
