Nurse's note 'blamed DJs for suicide'

The nurse who took her own life following the controversial royal prank phone call reportedly blamed the two 2Day FM DJs who made the call.

Jacintha Saldanha left three notes before hanging herself at the hospital where she worked after she gained worldwide attention when she fell for a poor imitation of Queen Elizabeth II and put the hoax call through.

One note reportedly dealt with funeral arrangements while another spoke of aspects of her work at the hospital.

It's now been claimed the third note blames 2Day FM DJs Michael Christian and Mel Greig for her death.

The Indian Express quotes sources close to the Saldanha family saying the note revealed a 'deep anger' towards the Aussie DJs over the prank.

Britain's Mail on Sunday has also reported one of the DJs who placed the call rang the station within an hour of the call to tell Ms Saldanha it would be going to air.

The revelation is said to have left Ms Saldanha feeling 'confused and agitated'.

Ms Saldanha's body has been returned to India in preparations for a funeral in her hometown in the country’s southwest.

Locals in the area told AFP they were confused by Ms Saldanha's death.

"They say she was a strong person, why did she take such a drastic step," said Sister Benny D'Souza, describing the family as "very generous and kind".

The 2Day FM DJs at the centre of the scandal have been moved to a safehouse after they received death threats following their tearful apologies last week.

A British investigation into the events surrounds Ms Saldanha's suicide is expected to stretch to Australia, where police are expected to look into the actions of 2Day FM's presenters and producers.

The Australian Communications and Media Authority has launched its own investigation into a possible breach of the station's licensing conditions.
