A mum-to-be from UK cleared her driving test while in labour and then drove herself to hospital to give birth to her first baby, newspaper reports say.
Emma French, 20, said she felt four contractions while driving during the 45-minute exam but was desperate to get her licence before her baby was born.
On her way to the hospital, Emma even made a quick stop at her grandparents’ house to give them the good news but turned down offers of a ride.
She gave birth to a baby girl six hours after reaching hospital. Both the mum and the baby are doing fine.
"Everyone was telling me to go to the hospital but I had waited so long for my driving test, I was determined to do it," she is quoted as saying by The Daily Mail, "I didn't dare tell the examiner I was in labour in case he made me cancel the test".
Emma, a warehouse worker, was not due for another month but when she woke at 4am on the day of her driving test, she found her waters broken.
According to The Mail, Emma stayed awake for the rest of the night but when the baby didn't arrive, she decided to sit her test despite pleas from her partner and mother.
"I am really happy I passed. It's something I wanted to do before I had my daughter to make it easier for me when she was born," she said.
