Woolworths worker's touching act for three-year-old

A mother’s outing with her young son nearly turned into an unpleasant experience but she credits a Woolworths employee with making her little one’s day.

The mum named Danielle wrote online that she had just had lunch with her three-year-old son next to the supermarket in the Gold Coast suburb of Ormeau, and decided to grab some groceries afterwards.

But her little boy wasn’t quite finished his milkshake so they brought it along in a takeaway container and he happily sat in the trolley with his drink until disaster struck.

“My son spills the whole strawberry milk all over the health & beauty aisle!” Danielle wrote on Facebook.

The mother said she was “instantly flustered” following the accident, and went to find an employee to let them know what had happened.

“Then this wonderful lady (woolies employee) showed up and cleared away all the mess while I found a clean, new trolley!” she wrote.

“Upon my return, the employee stated ‘please let me replace that strawberry milkshake’.

The mother told her it was not necessary as she had bought it elsewhere and apologised for the mess.

But she said the employee did not get upset over the spilt milk, claiming she did not even bat an eyelid over the sticky situation.

“To which your employee went straight to your in store cafe and replaced my 3 year old son’s strawberry milkshake.

“It made his day when she returned.”

The grateful mother, who shared the story in the hope that the “generous staff” member sees it, added: “This could of turned into an embarrassing situation but instead kindness and smiles were all that were given.”

Other social media users also praised the worker for their kind gesture.

“That smile says it all,” one wrote, while another said, “He looks so happy with his new milkshake. Good on Woolworths.”
