Woolworths takes long-awaited step after coronavirus panic

Woolworths has removed all buying restrictions on products, which were put in place to stop panic buying during the COVID-19 pandemic.

From Monday, all restrictions have been removed including on antibacterial wipes, hand wash and frozen fruit.

Woolworths Supermarkets managing director Claire Peters said it’s a “big milestone and a positive sign”.

“We are thankful to everyone for their patience with us over these last few months,” she said.

The supermarket reminded shoppers there is still a buying limit on tins of baby formula.

Such was the hysteria of panic buying across Australia, most notably on toilet paper, people were filmed crowding aisles and fighting each other to get their hands on certain products.
