Woolworths staffer brutally skewers customers in viral video: 'Be specific Karen'

A viral TikTok is giving everyday Aussies a glimpse at what Woolworths employees endure on a daily basis, with an eye-roll inducing re-enactment from a current employee.

The video, captioned "just be specific Karen," was uploaded earlier this week, before generating over 160,000 views in a matter of days.

The 49-second clip shows Woolworths deli worker and TikTok user @aangeltilley re-enacting a scenario in which a deli customer is frustratingly vague about their needs.

“Do you guys sell ham?” asks the customer, played by the TikToker out of uniform.

“Yes we do sell ham, which one were you after?” the staffer, played by the same person, replies.

The customer then asks for leg ham, only to be informed that all of the deli hams are leg ham, then simply points at the product she wants.

“I can’t see what you’re looking at, what one were you after?” the staffer repeats.

The customer then rolls her eyes and says “the triple ham.”

The staffer asks her if she’d like it shaved or sliced, then instead of answering the question, the customer raises her voice and repeats that she wants "triple ham."

The latter part of the TikTok shows that the customer finally settled on what she needed, requesting one kilogram of shaved deli meat.

“Is 998 grams okay?” the deli worker asks after measuring the portion of ham.

“I said one kilogram!” the customer retorts.

The video ends with a re-enactment of the staffer handing the product to the customer, who snatches it and storms off.

The TikToker told her followers that the re-enactment is an “everyday scenario we have at the Woolworths deli.”

Responding to a comment, the TikToker assured viewers that her team members and management team were aware that she posted the video, and “found it quite hilarious.”

Woolies employees chime in on deli gripes

Over 6,000 TikTok users have already commented on the video, including a handful of past and present supermarket deli workers.

“I worked in a deli for many years and this is so true. I would give them the most expensive one if they were being so vague,” one TikTok user said.

“I had a guy get mad at me for asking him what kind of salami he wanted. He yelled ‘I DON’T KNOW JUST PICK ONE',” commented another.

“What about ‘just a handful’ then you grab it and they’re like NO THAT'S TOO MUCH/NOT ENOUGH,” added a third.

“Orders a kilo of ham, realises it’s too much, dumps it on a shelf,” wrote a fourth.

The TikToker has called out similar behaviour in another video posted yesterday, where she once again calls on customers to be specific when placing orders at the counter.

The video humorously shows why customers should specify if they're ordering by weight or monetary value when relaying numbers to deli workers.
