Woolworths shopper stunned by note on meat product in home delivery

A Woolworths shopper has voiced her gratitude toward team members at her local store for going “above and beyond”.

The West Australian woman shared a post to Woolworths’ official Facebook page, where she thanked the Dalyellup team for the surprise gift and sweet note she received with her online order.

“Woolworths Dalyellup once again surpassed my customer service expectations. You guys seriously are the best. Your staff go above and beyond every day,” wrote the woman in her heartfelt post.

Alongside the post, the Woolies customer shared a photo of a handwritten note and M&M's Brownie she was gifted in her online order.

The note from the team member who packed the shopper’s order reads: “Sorry we didn’t have the lamb and beef meatballs. These are the closest. Sorry again.”

In the photo, it appears the Woolworths staffer had substituted the shopper’s beef and lamb meatballs for lamb kebabs, then added a note and gift to make up for switching out the item.

The customer was more impressed with the team’s kind gesture than she was disappointed about not receiving her meatballs.

Woolworths strive to 'bring a little good to everyone, everyday'

A Woolworths spokesperson told Yahoo News Australia that the generous act was an example of the retailer's dedication to customer service.

“At Woolworths, our teams strive to bring a little good to everyone, everyday, and this is yet another great example,” said the spokesperson.

“It was a thoughtful gesture and we’re glad it was well-received by the customer,” the spokesperson added.

“We’ve passed on the customer’s feedback to our operations team, so the team member is recognised for going above and beyond.”

Woolworths staff reveal generous customer acts: 'Almost made me cry'

It’s not only Woolworths team members who are bringing a “little good” to customers' lives, but shoppers have also been doing kind deeds.

Last week, a Woolworths employee kicked off a Facebook thread dedicated to positive customer stories and revealed that the day before, she witnessed a customer “pay $50 for the customer behind”.

Similarly, another staffer explained that she saw a shopper hand a $50 note to a woman who was caught short at the cash register.

“I had a customer a couple weeks back who was about $20 short, and was quite obviously buying stuff for her kids to take to school. [The] lady from the register across handed her a $50 and said, ‘Don’t worry about it’,” the employee wrote.

A third witnessed an elderly couple “cuddling and crying” after a kind-hearted stranger paid for their groceries in full.

“I told them the gentleman paid for it all and they were just so gobsmacked. Cried even more and went, ‘There’s still good people in the world’. Almost made me cry,” the employee revealed.
